This newly renovated 1950s waterfront retreat offers the perfect balance of relaxation and Lancaster charm. Located just 1 mile from Tanger Outlets, Dutch Wonderland, and Sight & Sound Theatre, it’s close to everything yet feels a world away.

Enjoy your private creekside escape with stunning views of mature woodlands and open farmland. Spend your days fishing, kayaking, or paddle boating on the Mill Stream; unwind in the backyard or enjoy the indoor wood burning fireplace. Take a dip in your private hot tub or savor the shared backyard sauna, available to guests of our neighboring cottage.

Inside, The Hideaway Cottage has been thoughtfully restored with modern comfort and timeless style. The open-concept living area features floor-to-ceiling windows, cozy velvet chairs, and a cozy sectional overlooking the water. The custom kitchen is fully equipped with high-end appliances, coffee makers, and everything you need for home-cooked meals.

The primary suite offers a king bed with luxury linens, robes, and a workspace. A second bedroom includes a bunk bed and trundle for a true summer-camp feel. The vintage-inspired bathroom features the original cast-iron tub and premium amenities.

From morning coffee on the front porch to s’mores by the fire pit under ancient sycamores, every detail invites rest and reconnection. Should you wish to travel with family or friends, the neighboring guest cottage can also be reserved.

We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful cottage. It was tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with quality dishes, glassware and pots and pans. The beds were super comfortable. We loved sitting in the hot tub on the front porch and looking at the stars. The wood burning fireplace was a treat for us as it snowed while we were there and it added to the ambiance. Janelle was an excellent communicator. We can’t wait to return.

We had a wonderful, relaxing few days at the Millstream Hideaway Cabin. The house was very clean, and the amenities were both luxurious and quaint. There were ample children’s toys, books and games that kept our kids entertained. The view from the living room window overlooking the creek was spectacular and relaxing. We enjoyed the fireplace and hot tub as well. The beds and sheets were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The hosts were very responsive. We had a great time and would definitely return. Highly recommend.

Kitchen had everything we needed for morning smoothies which we enjoyed sitting on the chairs overlooking the creek.Location was perfect for our visit to Sight & Sound Theatre.The hostess went above and beyond by helping us with detailed suggestions for dinner out and helping us when we accidentally locked the key in the house!Also, there was a terrible storm and the host cleaned up the downed branches right away.

Quiet and serene

The hideaway is a lovely house nestled on a shared property with a beautiful cottage. The view of the creek from the large picture window is beautiful and the perfect backdrop to sit and read. The house is immaculate and provides all the luxury needed for a short relaxing stay. The view of the cornfields across from the porch takes you back to days gone by.

Bright and clean home

House was beautifully renovated and welcoming. Nice picture window overlooking back yard. Note - no sidewalk to front door, must walk up hill from back of house then across grass to front door. Not a problem for us, but elderly might have issues. Also stated watercraft are not directly on this property, must walk up creek a little way to another property
.but paddleboat was not available during our stay. Make sure to ask owners about availablility of watercraft and life jackets . We would stay here again.

VRBO Hospitality At Its Finest

This is a very charming and well-stocked property. Janelle and Jake considered all of the details (comfortable bedding, high-end cleaning products, all necessary kitchen items, small baskets of books and toys for the kids, etc.), and are delivering a high-end personal bnb experience at a time when these kinds of rentals are generally going downhill. The property looks exactly like the photos - and if anything, the photos do not do the lovely and tranquil setting justice! This was a perfect, 10:10 stay for our family and we will definitely be back (and exploring other Jake & Janelle properties, too!).

Amazing location, beautiful cottage

We had the perfect stay - the cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. The fireplace, paired with the view of the creek (sorta river) was amazing. Host was amazing and we even got to take the row boat out. Location of the cottage is perfect. It was 3 minutes to Dutch wonderland, and 4 to American Movie Theatre. Loved it so much the wife and kids wanted to move in. Book the stay - you won’t regret it!

First Visit

Great place for our first visit to the area. House was an exactly as advertised. Bed was great, layout was perfect for my wife and I. Janelle was great on communication and helpfulness. Loved the fireplace on a cool, damp evening. Only suggestion is to advise guests to unload when you enter driveway so you don’t have to carry suitcases, coolers back up the little incline to the front door.

Home Away From Home

The house was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed! The location was absolutely perfect as well. Halfway between downtown Lancaster and all the Amish farm activities/Strasburg railroad. The view of the creek in the backyard was stunning, and gives you a perfect sunset view. We would definitely stay again.
