Gut: Sauberkeit
This is a tricky review to write because there is so much right with this property. It is as described and the pictures are accurate. Itâs likely the nicest house in the area. It is clean and the owner is very responsive. But: Bugs in kitchen with no remedy when reported. Feral cat fell through screen in lanai. MBR sink didnât drain. Beyond hostâs control but relevant is how dark the house is, and noisy the area: loud with traffic and barking dogs which prevent the use of the lovely patio as well as the ability to enjoy a fresh breeze with open doors. The neighbourhood is, sadly, impoverished. Stray dogs and cats roam and leave their waste. The â3 blocks to beachâ are littered with garbage and animal waste; the beach is unacceptable for sunbathing or swimming. No cafes or shops nearby. A big issue for us is no hot running water in kitchen. We had to boil water on the stove to properly wash dishes. I didnât consider this safe. Itâs indeed an inconvenience. After our initial shock at the neighbourhood, we thought we could tough it out for our two-month stay, but by day 2 we knew we could not. The host had agreed to an approximately 25% refund (of our outlay) which is not required of her, but in the end she didnât pay. Twice we took Uber to return key and collect refund and twice she refused. VRBO was sympathetic enough to give us a partial refund. I feel compelled to share that this location is a challenge for us, and not what anyone would want for their hard-earned vacation .
