In Mexico City, parking works a bit differently than in many other countries. Parking spots are often limited and, in many buildings, they’re part of a shared arrangement with neighbors—meaning spaces may be tight and cars may need to be moved to allow others to enter or exit.
Because of this, it’s common practice (and often expected) to leave the car keys with the vehicle so building staff or authorized neighbors can reposition the car if needed to avoid blocking anyone. This helps keep things running smoothly and prevents delays or conflicts in shared parking areas.
