**Boats and Dock are ready for the 2025 Summer Season as of 5/10!** Riverdale is a charming riverfront property on a quiet, sunny street in Monte Rio. With a large backyard to relax and seasonal canoe and kayaks for fun on the river, it's a fabulous place for couples, families, and friends. Fully equipped with smart TVs, board games, high-speed wifi connection, and two remote-working spaces, you can entertain yourself or work (if you must). Upstairs is light, bright, and open, with French doors that open to the deck.

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need, including an espresso maker. Other essentials like a blender, cocktail shaker, and wine glasses and accessories pair well with farmer’s market finds for truly fantastic wine county meals. Bedrooms and living spaces are split between the two levels of the home with the kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a full bathroom upstairs and two bedrooms, den, and a full bathroom downstairs.

You’ll LOVE the outdoor spaces! The back deck runs the length of the house and boasts a propane BBQ, outdoor seating and dining areas, and views of the river and yard. The hot tub and sometimes shaded, sometimes sunny patio, sit below the deck and face the backyard - lush with plantings and expansive lawn - stretching to meet the river via a terraced overlook and stairway to the private dock. The sizable dock is tucked into the canopy on the edge of the river with built-in benches - a great place to watch the river flow.

After a restful snooze, explore the nearby hamlets of Duncan’s Mills and Occidental – each a short drive and teeming with unique shops and restaurants – or head to the coast, the many local vineyards, hike or zipline in the redwoods, or find your own adventure.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Riverdale is 8 people not including kids 3 years old and younger. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times.

A Note About Our Cleaning Fees: Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you are supporting local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage, and we make sure to set the rates and fees so that our cleaners and employees earn a living wage in beautiful Sonoma County. The cleaning fee goes directly to the cleaners and inspectors for their hard work in making sure our guests have a wonderful and welcoming space to call home for their stay.

Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles: 1 in the driveway and 1 on the street directly in front of the house. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: Upstairs master bedroom: King bed; Upstairs bedroom: Queen bed; Downstairs master bedroom: Queen bed; Downstairs bedroom: Twin daybed with twin trundle; Living room: Queen sofa bed.

Heat Source: A gas wall heater in the living room heats most of the house with supplemental electric baseboard heaters in each bedroom.

Location: Riverdale is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park in the driveway and 1 street spot directly in front of the house (mindfully aware of neighbors and their parking) and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community!

Road to Riverdale: Many roads in the Russian River area are curvy and limited to one lane in sections. The road to Riverdale is paved and no special vehicle is needed. We provide detailed written driving directions to confirmed guests.

Stairs: There are approx. 10 steps to the front door from the parking area and the downstairs living space is accessed via a separate exterior entrance and staircase.

Pet Friendly: Riverdale allows up to 2 well-mannered dogs.

Fencing: The backyard is fully fenced.

Security: For the safety of guests and the home, there is a security camera outside - facing the parking and entry of the property.

Work from HERE: There are two workspaces for guests – 1 in the upstairs living room and 1 in the downstairs den. Each has a desk, chair, and outlets.
Advertised Wifi Speed: Starlink high speed wifi.

A Note About TVs: The Smart TVs (1 in the upstairs living room and 1 in the downstairs den) have Roku and Netflix setup specifically for the home. Guests are welcome to bring their login info for these apps and others accessible through Roku. The televisions do not have cable.

Common Amenities Not Included:
This home does not have Air Conditioning, but ceiling and freestanding fans are provided. Towering redwood trees and coastal breezes along the Russian River help cool the home.
Cable TV: Riverdale does not have cable TV, but you have access to streaming services via the Roku. See the note about TVs above.

Docks, Boats, and River Access: These are seasonal amenities and only available when conditions allow. Expect docks, boats, and river access when the summer dams are in (mid-June to mid- September). Conditions vary from year to year and can change rapidly – use your best judgement to determine your risk level and comfort in the water/physical activity. The dock at Riverdale is installed year-round but goes under water in the winter. There is 1 canoe and 5 kayaks, when available, and stairs to the river dock from the backyard.

Proximity to wineries: Tasting rooms in downtown Guerneville (4.5 mi) and a wine bar in Duncan’s Mills (4.6 mi) are the closest, but there are oodles of vineyards and tasting rooms within 15 miles.

Nearest River Beach: Riverdale has a private river dock, but if you’re looking for a beach, you can walk to a neighborhood beach (0.2 mi) or walk/drive to the Monte Rio Public Beach (0.7 mi).

Nearest Ocean Beach: The coastal beaches in Jenner are approx. 9.5 miles from the house.

The host was welcoming but not the most responsive by email. Most things in the house were working fine. There were a lot of ants in the downstairs unit and we didn't want to use ant spray with small children around. Washer looked to be moldy inside, which was concerning. The kitchen had everything except a whisk.

Beautifully well appointed and comfortable. Great access to river and provided kayaks. Hot tub. Set up was different with downstairs two bedrooms and extra space was only accessible by going outside but that ended up working great for our family. Everything was top notch.

We were 8 people and felt very comfortable in this rental! We had everything we needed and check in/check out process was super easy. Only critique is that the backyard was a little overgrown and could use a little love!

Grateful Getaway

Quaint older, two-story home with wonderful outside sitting spaces on wood and cement decking, as well as on a lawn--all overlooking the Russian River. The outside living space makes the home, and I believe it would be lovely in the summer. In November, outside was uncomfortable without a coat, blanket, and at times an umbrella from the dripping trees). We spent most of our time at the grand wood dining table and benches perfect for puzzles/games. Arrive with the sun up because street lighting poor and few addresses are visible. Arriving after dark, the front light wouldn't stay on while we unloaded our vehicle. If you aren't comfortable with stairs, (slick from damp leaves that weren't removed), this won't be the house for you. Keyless entry was easy. Would have been nice to have the heat on because we entered to a musty/moldy smell that cleared up before the following morning, once the upstairs was warmed (there isn't a traditional thermostat for the heater. There are 2 bdrms upstairs, off the living and dining room with 1 bathroom and kitchen. The king-size bed in the "main" was comfortable for us, plenty warm; know that the 2 bdrm/1bath downstairs is reached by going outside and down deck stairs. Upstairs was plenty of comfortable room for us. Kitchen well appointed and spaces nicely labeled. Several dishes were chipped/cracked, but we could use others. Lovely binder with local information we found quite helpful. Quiet neighborhood to walk. Nice, quiet holiday!
