Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and unwind at The Step, our charming off-grid A-Frame cabin nestled on our family farm just minutes from the picturesque Village of Montgomery, NY. Designed with couples in mind, The Step offers a cozy and tranquil retreat a perfect place to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the simple pleasures of nature.

A Peek Inside The Step
• The Bed: Snuggle up in a nectar queen-size memory foam bed, ensuring a restful night’s sleep while you visit!
• Cozy Nook: Enjoy meals, play games, or dive into a good book at the custom built dining nook
• Always Cozy: equipped with an AC and a heater you’ll alwaysbe comfortable.

Outdoor Amenities
• Patio Perks: Step outside to your private patio, complete with a picnic table, grill, chairs, and a fire pit—ideal for starry nights and morning coffees surrounded by our gardens and nature.
• Farm Things: Explore our farm, meet the friendly animals, (goats, chickens, sheep, cows and bunnies)
• Seasonal activities: Free Fishing in our ponds and wandering through our corn maze in the fall. (Please Note: while you are more than welcome to observe the animals we do ask you do not feed or put them)

About the Bathhouse
• Compost Toilet: Just 20 feet from the cabin, our bathhouse offers a composting toilet and a small sink for handwashing.
• Outdoor Shower: the outdoor shower provides hot and cold water, enhancing your off-grid experience * NOVEMBER - MARCH WATER WILL BE TURNED OFF DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER*

Our farm is home to:
• Fishing Ponds: Catch-and-release bass, sunnies, carp, and crappie.
• River Access: Enjoy a peaceful walk along our Walkill River frontage.
• Seasonal Blooms: Visit our flower-cutting fields (late July–September)
• Corn Maze: Navigate our 7+ acre corn maze during September and October.
• Friendly Animals: Meet our goats, rabbits, sheep, and chickens. While you’re welcome to observe, we ask that guests do not pet or feed them.

The Village

The Village of Montgomery is just a 3-minute drive away, offering a variety of fantastic restaurants, cafes, and local shops and even some brand new pickleball courts. Described as a “Hallmark film town,” it’s a delightful spot to enjoy during your stay.

Beyond your Stay

Cleanliness is a top priority for us. We try our best to use eco-friendly and non-toxic products to ensure a spotless and chemical-free space for every guest. You can rest easy knowing your stay will be clean, fresh, and thoughtfully curated.

We, poured our hearts into building The Step as a place to unplug, unwind, and to enjoy the simplistic joys of life. We’d be honored to host your next mini-escape.

Please note this cabin does not have WIFI, however there is very good cell service for all major providers on the farm.

You’re free to explore the entire 78 acre operating farm! The farm has bunnies, chickens and goats. You can test out your fishing skills in the two large ponds located in the front of the farm or in the Walkill River located at the bottom of the farm.

We love to talk and meet with new people. We both work jobs at different hours of the day, so we won’t always be able to meet in person. However, if you encountered a problem and needed assistance we live very local… 7 minutes down the road to be exact! If you’re two people short from a mean marshmallow roasting competition we are always down to hang ;)
Basically we can’t guarantee our faces in person but if you request our presence we will try our best. After all we want to be the hostess with the mostest.

Our neighborhood! Montgomery gets the award for being in the top 100 of safest towns and could potentially be found in a Hallmark film. The drive to town is about 3 minutes from The Step where you can grab some dinner at our local pub, grab coffee/brunch/lunch at our very favorite cafe (thee iron cafe), or browse the cute shops throughout the village. Some nature attractions include- Benedict Park (about a 5 minute drive), Montgomery Park (close proximity to the cafe- 3 minute drive) or stay super local and explore our 78 acre farm where The Step is built!

Under 10 minutes from our spot you can travel to Angry Orchard where you can sip on some hard cider and explore the valley of apples. If you want to get wild and take a longer drive, head up to Mohonk (30 minute drive) to hike and enjoy the mountainous views.

Beware! After exploring our town you may want to move here....

Car is best! You could totally ride your bike if you brought it but the road you take to get to the farm is pretty windy with small room next to the barrier line and could get sketchy with a bike. If you are feeling super motivated you could also walk into town BUT same rules apply as the bike, the road into town can be sketchy.

We vote car for your neighborhood transportation.
