Dogwood is an intimate, Icelandic-inspired, off-grid sleeping cottage tucked beside a creek on Wildhaven's 30+ acre farm and forest retreat in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
We created Wildhaven around a different idea of luxury: an exceptionally comfortable bed dressed in beautiful linens. Dark skies. Quiet mornings. Coffee and dinner cooked over the fire. A robe after a long, hot shower. Sauna heat followed by cold spring water. A hot tub beneath the stars. Wildflowers, fireflies and a creek outside your window.
We think of it as elemental luxury.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF COTTAGE
Inspired by the small sleeping cottages we've loved throughout Iceland, Dogwood doesn't try to contain the entire stay inside four walls. Your cottage is your private place to sleep deeply, read, rest and retreat; the surrounding land and shared spaces become part of the experience.
Inside you'll find a queen bed with beautiful linens, rechargeable lamps, battery-powered fans, a power bank for charging your phone, drinking water, games and puzzles.
Just outside, your own wood-burning fire and cooking setup sits steps from the creek. Make your morning coffee there, cook dinner over the fire or simply stay awhile beneath the dark mountain sky.
OFF-GRID, ON PURPOSE
At Wildhaven, off-grid is an experience—not an absence of comfort.
We've intentionally removed some of everyday life's noise while keeping the things that make a stay feel special. Dogwood has warm lighting, fans, phone charging and cozy propane heat during our cold-weather season, but no television, Wi-Fi or conventional electricity inside the cottage.
Open the screened windows and listen to the creek. Read by lamplight. Work on a puzzle. Cook outside. Have a conversation.
And when you're ready for a hot shower, sauna, soak or a little connectivity, it's all a short walk away.
Our version of off-grid isn't about going without. It's about choosing what feels worth keeping.
LUXURY BATHHOUSE + WELLNESS
Dogwood guests have full access to Wildhaven's heated and cooled shared Bathhouse, with private restrooms and hot showers, fresh towels and robes, plus guest laundry.
Our shared Wellness Courtyard includes:

• Spring-fed cold-plunge pond + swim deck
• Outdoor seating
• Propane fire pit
Warm up in the sauna, slip into cold spring water, wrap yourself in a robe after a long shower or soak beneath the stars. Wildhaven is intentionally small, and these shared spaces are designed to remain peaceful and intimate.
DOG-FOCUSED, NOT JUST DOG-FRIENDLY
You don't need a dog to fall in love with Dogwood—but if you're bringing one, we've thought about them too.
You'll find a plush dog bed, food and water bowls, treats, toys, extra leashes and an outdoor tie-out. Dogs should remain leashed around the larger property outside Dogwood's private site and are not permitted inside the Bathhouse or enclosed wellness buildings.
Dogwood is a beautiful creekside retreat first—and an unusually thoughtful place to bring your dog when they're lucky enough to come along.
30+ ACRES TO EXHALE
Wildhaven is an adult-focused working microfarm and forest retreat—not a traditional campground or resort.
Explore our meadow, creek, pond, gardens, wildflowers and tucked-away forest swings, or find a quiet place where there's really nothing you're supposed to be doing.
Our little Farm Store changes with the seasons. Depending on what's growing and available, you may find farm-fresh eggs, fresh-cut flowers, herbs or plants to take home, along with cold drinks and other small finds.
Deer, rabbits, butterflies, fireflies and birds share this wildlife and pollinator habitat with us. If you've never heard a whip-poor-will after dark, you're in for one of our favorite mountain sounds.
Wildhaven is also a real working microfarm, so you may occasionally see us tending gardens or working around the property. We'll generally wave and leave you to your privacy and peace.
THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY IS RIGHT HERE
The Blue Ridge Parkway is directly across from Wildhaven.
Spend the day exploring scenic drives, hiking, waterfalls, overlooks and the small mountain communities of the High Country.
Then come back. Put on a robe. Take a sauna and cold plunge. Light your fire. Cook something good. Listen to the creek.
Wildhaven feels wonderfully removed without being far from the places you came to the mountains to experience.
RESTFUL & REAL
We're still thoughtfully restoring portions of Wildhaven following Hurricane Helene. You'll find beautifully finished spaces alongside parts of the farm, landscaping and trail system that are still evolving. We've recently added a walking path through our wildflower meadow, with plans to restore more of our trails over time.
We're not trying to create a manicured resort.
This is a real mountain farm and forest—seasonal, evolving, occasionally imperfect and very much alive. We think that's part of its beauty.

• Your heated and cooled Bathhouse, private restrooms and hot showers are a short walk from the cottage.
• Sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, swim deck and Wellness Courtyard are shared among Wildhaven's small number of overnight guests.
• Wi-Fi and connectivity are available around the wellness areas, while Dogwood itself remains a place to unplug.
• Dogwood has its own wood-burning fire and cooking setup beside the creek.
• Wildhaven is an adult-focused, peaceful retreat with quiet hours beginning at 10 PM.
• This is a real mountain property, so changing weather, wildlife, insects and gravel roads are part of the experience.
