Avoid at all costs
Upon entering the caravan we noticed that none of the beds were made - we would need to do this ourselves, there were no bin liners in the bins, there was no hand soap in the bathroom, there were still dirty tissues in the toilet bin, the shower was broken, the bedsheets provided had blood stains on them, the sofa was very dirty and there was a used tampax applicator on the floor of the main bedroom.
The caravan is tiny. The double bedroom is slightly larger than the double bed in it - you can get out of one side of the bed but not really the other. The mattress is sprung - you can feel the springs. The twin room is minuscule⊠just about okay for our 6 and 9 yr olds. The lounge floor area just about fits a travel cot.
We contacted the owner who arranged for clean sheets and bin liners to be delivered to the door later that evening.
Whilst making all of the beds we realised there was one single duvet missing. The owner did not respond that evening to tell us there was a spare hidden inside the sofa, so I slept on the sofa that night covered with towels so my son could sleep in the double bed with my other half. The additional duvet was left outside of the caravan in an open bin bag the next day.
In addition to the caravan being dirty and disappointing, we soon discovered we had been lied to and taken advantage of.
> From speaking to other holiday makers the park booking people we were able to establish that the caravan owner had charged us between 2-3x the going rate for the caravan we were staying in.
> The advert for the caravan we booked showed photos of a swimming pool with slides and a lazy river. It turned out these facilities were at a different park that we were not allowed to access. Unfortunately for us, these photos were the primary reason we booked the caravan. They were also how we somehow justified paying the extortionate price we were charged.
> The advert also talked about there being a swimming pool. Despite charging 3x the going rate the advert failed to mention we would need to pay a further ÂŁ30 to access the swimming pool.
Newquay itself is lovely, however we feel robbed, lied to and extremely let down by the experience.
