Great neighborhood for a family trip!
Our family takes a trip to Bolivar Peninsula every summer! This is our first time to rent Amy's dream. We usually rent Seashell Getaway but, unfortunately we rented this one instead because we thought it had a handicap lift whereas sea shell getaway does not. The kids enjoyed the house, especially my teenage daughter. She slept in the upstairs room on the loveseat, it was her own little getaway! The master bath was beautifully remodeled, the king size bed's box spring on one side was busted in the master and my husband and I slept lopsided the whole 5 nights. The rest of the house and furniture could use some updating. There is just enough soap, toilet paper, dishwasher liquid, trash bags etc. for a single use (travel stuff) so, you will need to purchase all those things at the dollar general or family dollar down the main street not far from the house. This house is located closer to the ferry WHICH RUNS 24 HOURS A DAY, the ferry does NOT shut down. The house is in a slower paced area away from the party life of Crystal Beach, which was a plus for us and our kids, we don't like crowded places. One issue we had was that in the photos of the rental property it showed a lift which is motorized, it is like an outdoor elevator of sorts. We were under the impression (from photo) that it was used for handicap people, WHICH IS WHY we rented this particular home. My brother is in a wheel chair and is an amputee and only has one leg. We found out the lift was not for renters use! So my brother had to HOP up and down the stairs EVERY time we went somewhere. He got really worn out and it was so dangerous. We had drove 10 hours for this trip and couldn't get a refund unfortunately, so we managed the best we could. We called the rental company several times and they finally said we could use it IF we paid an extra $150! My brother wouldn't let me pay it since I had foot the bill for this whole trip for the family and he didn't have the money to pay it himself. We were also told it was strictly for luggage and groceries, NOT for people. I complained and said the lift should not be in the pictures of the advertised rental property and there should be something in the info about it not being accessible to renters. Other than that the house was okay.
