About this space
This stunning one-hundred-year-old home is a spacious retreat on Munjoy Hill, one of Portland's most desirable and walkable neighborhoods. Enjoy the sea breeze off Casco Bay and gorgeous views of the working waterfront from our two rooftop decks. Staying here you are just steps away from all you could want to do or dine on in our little city by the sea. Its luxurious interior and location make it a perfect getaway spot for couples or small groups of friends visiting Portland.
The space
- This apartment is on the second floor, up a flight of stairs, and once inside, spans two floors and a spiral staircase to the uppermost roof deck. It is required that guests be very comfortable with stairs in order to enjoy their stay! -

Enjoy ample living space indoors and out, including two very private bedrooms.
Each bedroom is on a separate floor and offers a comfortable bed, space to unpack, and blinds for lazy mornings. The upstairs master bedroom has a skylight for stargazing on clear nights.
Enjoy a nice long soak in the clawfoot tub!
Air conditioning throughout the house allows you to stay comfortable even on the hottest of summer days.

**Out of respect for our tenants & neighbors, no parties are allowed at the house.
We welcome groups of up to 4 . Additional overnight guests must be approved in advance.

During your stay, you will have the full apartment to yourself including 2 rooftop decks!
Other things to note:
-There is a sofa in the TV room that folds out into a twin bed.
- We also have a rollaway single bed available with a memory foam mattress.

-For your little one, we have a Pack n Play as well as a highchair available. I'm happy to set them up for you. Just let me know in advance.

- Please note, if you are traveling with small children, there are two flights of stairs leading to the second and third floors, as well as a spiral staircase leading to the rooftop deck.

We loved staying here! A beautiful second floor apartment with beautiful rooms. The views are spectacular. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen and bathrooms clean, and the neighborhood- very dear. We walked to many good restaurants. Favorites are Bread and Friends and Honey Paw. Bread and Friends, a wonderful bakery, serves dinner just a few nights a week.. Book ahead!!! Honey Paw is next to Eventide which we missed due to long wait times. Double Great Coffee is just a block and a half from the apartment and a delicious morning stop. My family agrees. This is the place to stay next time we come to Portland!

the apartment is lovely and sunny, with period character everywhere. the location is perfect for walking in the lovely Muntjoy Hill, taking in cafes and wine bars, and a good walk to Downtown and harbour front. The apartment was very clean and tidy. NB the spiral staircase to the roof is not for everyone.

This was a perfect location for our visit to Portland. The second (and third) floor apartment is located in a quiet, walkable neighborhood with ample parking and within walking distance of restaurants and sights - or a short drive to downtown. Owner Jennifer was responsive and included nice touches like chocolate and coffee, plus plenty of glasses, plates, etc. One night it was nice to get takeout and have a nice dining area to sit. If I had one quibble it was that the blinds in both bedrooms let in more natural light than we all preferred, but nothing is perfect. I recommend the property and would stay there again. It's a lovely, comfortable home away from home.

Great stay in a great location!

This place was perfect for a weekend in Portland. The apartment was larger than expected and fit 4 friends with plenty of the space. Also the sunroom and two outdoor decks were a great touch. In addition to that, the location was amazing with plenty to do right near the apartment and was a close walk to downtown. Would highly recomend to any coming to visit Portland!

Wonderful First day of Spring weekend

This property is an absolute gem! It is well appointed, clean, and homey, with beautiful succulents placed all around. The property manager, Jennifer, was always just a text/phone call away and provided restaurant suggestions, which were very helpful.Back to the property: it is nestled amongst a quiet neighborhood of homes, some dating back 100 years. Walking from the house to the Old Port area was a pleasure. In fact, we walked everywhere and never drove our car during our stay.We all would be happy to stay at this property again.

Lovely Hilltop Views and Close to the Waterfront!

We enjoyed our stay at Munjoy Hill Retreat very much. I wrote to Jennifer prior to our arrival and her reply was quick and friendly. We appreciated having some little snacks and a nice note left on the counter for us upon our arrival. There were plenty of pods for the Keurig for all of us to enjoy morning, afternoon and evening coffee. The house has a beautiful, historical feel, with mid-century modern touches. We loved all of the paintings of the Portland area done by Rachel. This house felt very homey as we live in a Victorian era house that we also restored. The stairs might be a challenge for some people, but we have a lot of stairs in our house, so that was not an issue. We found all the utensils and dishware we needed to enjoy some take out from Sichuan Kitchen and to have our breakfasts in the dining room each morning. The sunroom was so, so lovely!! We played card games there together while watching the setting sun and taking in the view of the city and ocean. The only drawback for us was that the mini-splits did not adequately heat the dining room, den or kitchen, so it was pretty cool in those areas. We used blankets while watching the TV. The bedrooms were warm enough and the beds were extraordinarily comfortable. We slept like babies! The neighborhood is quiet, but with plenty nearby to do! It is just a short walk to the waterfront (but the hilly return might be a challenge for others) A wonderful stay, all in all!

Beautiful home in a great location!

Check in was very easy. The home was beautiful decorated and appointed. We had everything we needed and more. Large areas to hangout and talk with friends. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return. The home has several levels with very steep stairs. We took our time and didn’t have any issues however I could see older adults or children having challenges with the stairs. We appreciated all the lights being on so we could see when we returned from dinner. Really great location and beautiful views from the crows nest and sun room. Thank you for an excellent stay!

Early Fall extended weekend.

My wife and another couple made the trip to enjoy the weather and the city. This house was incredible. It's absolutely massive. So much space in the living room and sun room. Rooftop has incredible views that are essentially 360°. It is located on the top of Munjoy Hill and next to so many great spots, so it's very easily walkable. The coffee shops and bars nearby are absolutely incredible and you can pick a new place everyday for weeks if you wanted. The neighborhood is quiet but tons of young folks walking dogs, so quite local. The house is 100% what you would want to stay in for a historic part of town. The light fixtures, bathtub, sofas, they all match the aesthetic of the home so beautifully. If you're in Portland and want a comfortable place to enjoy coffee on the rooftop and watch the sunset with a legendary Portland beer this is the place to be. And the host was incredible! Do yourself a favor and stay here

Charming Rental!

A perfect getaway in Portland. This vacation rental is so charming and in a great location. The house is clean and well equipped. The decor is lovely. We loved having coffee on the rooftop in the morning. A nice walk to town. Highly recommend this vacation rental!

Stylish apartment

Do yourself a favor and book this apartment. Comfortable and stylish. Spotlessly clean. Plenty of space for our family of 4. The sun room was so dreamy and the roof top deck was delightful. Must be able to climb steep stairs though!

Visit Portland

Stayed a couple nights to check out the Portland area while traveling through. Stay had plenty of room. And was nice to see plenty of coffee available with the k cup machine which we didn’t bring with so that was nice to have first morning. Only thing a minus was parking. All street side and never did park on street by door. But quiet enough to have room and time to load and unload while coming and going.

Great location

Great house in a great location! We were a 5 minute drive from all the great restaurants and shopping that anyone can handle. If the weather is warmer, ideal for biking to and from Old Port. Just make sure you pace yourself for the trip back up Munjoy Hill!! The house was older but loved the character. Any calories you consume eating out will be burned off with the two sets of stairs the house contains! Keep that in mind if you have kids or dont like stairs! Ample room for lounging and quiet time. The host, Jennifer, was polite and responsive to all of our questions and needs ( tripped a breaker on a Sunday morning and she stopped by and took care of it within the hour) all in all, great launching point for exploring Portland and all it has to offer.
