Our experience at this apartment in Porto was extremely disappointing. Although the unit is on the 6th floor and technically has an elevator, you must first climb two full flights of stairs just to reach it. This wasn’t mentioned beforehand and made arriving with luggage and kids quite difficult.
The managing company also failed to provide entry codes or keys ahead of time. Instead, we had to walk 10–15 minutes to their office to pick them up. We were told someone would meet us with the keys at the apartment, but that never happened.
When we finally entered the apartment, we were hit with a terrible smell. At first, we thought it was coming from outside, but we soon realized the odor was coming from the tiny bathroom. A sewage pipe was broken, and it was causing a constant, overwhelming stench. We contacted the management company immediately, and while they said it would be addressed, nothing was done.
By the second day, the smell had become unbearable—completely unhealthy and unhygienic. We asked for help or a different apartment, but the company simply told us we could leave and they wouldn't charge us for the second night. This was around 8 p.m., when most places were already closing. It was unrealistic and stressful to expect us to find another place that late with children. Only after pushing the issue did they finally send someone to inspect, and the technician discovered the sewage pipe was actually pulling up trash instead of draining properly.
