Welcome to this cozy newly renovated cottage near Reedville, VA. This unique vacation property offers 3 bedrooms: 2 rooms each with a queen bed; and 1 room with a twin, a bunk, and 2 trundles. 2 full bathrooms. Amenities include AC and heat, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, and high-speed WiFi,.
What makes our cottage unique is panoramic water views on a secluded 2 and a half-acre property. Imagine waking up to the peaceful surroundings and starting your day with a cup of coffee on the front porch or the upper deck while watching the sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay. See the local fishermen checking their nets. Spend the day swimming, kayaking on the pond or the Bay, playing on your private beach. Catch a glimpse of the resident eagles, herons, and pelicans. Shipwatch Cottage Review

The property was very functional with respect to location,etc. I was not aware I could not have a dog and a neighbor apprised the owner I had one. I had looked at quite a few homes in the area so I thought this one I could have a dog. I only stay in pet friendly airandb's. I immediately took the dog to my son's house which was about 3 miles from the cottage. After that, I continued to see the owner's truck close to the cottage. At that point, I felt like I was being stalked. Other than that, we loved the cottage. We only slept there because we were 3 miles away at a family reunion.

Picturesque location

Pictures and description don’t do the views enough justice. Having the Bay in front and the pond/inlet behind you allowed you access to whatever kind of water day you wanted. Neighbors were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We enjoyed the beach, kayaking out back, and the multitude of searing options/fire pits to enjoy the view. Would love to stay again!

My wife wanted a quick and quiet getaway for her birthday weekend. Couldn't have picked a better place! The house was cozy and comfy and right next to the water. It was a great relaxing weekend!

Relaxing on the Bay

We enjoyed our stay so much! The house was clean and comfortable. The location was peaceful. We played games at the large dining table and read books out by the water. It was a lovely fall getaway.

A beautiful location! We enjoyed sitting by the water, having a cold drink, and relaxing from the busy work week. The house was perfect and very comfortable and clean. We would definitely come back!

Our Toddler Named this "The Special House"

If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is your spot. We were charmed by the beautiful views, the comfort of the house, the birdwatching, and the stunning sunrises. The house has everything you could need, including lots of kid-friendly extras that we aren't accustomed to finding in rental homes (toys, a step stool for reaching the sink, small plastic plates, small utensils, etc.). We'll certainly pack lighter when we come back! There are yummy restaurants around the area, and very cute towns to explore. We enjoyed visiting nearby businesses and markets, and bringing home local products to cook. The kitchen is well stocked. Our toddler loved playing in the waves and learning to build sandcastles; we loved listening to waves from the front porch rocking chairs after she'd gone to bed. We also enjoyed the outdoor firepits. John is a great host and even brought us extra firewood when we reached out to get a recommendation for it. We expected him to tell us where to buy it; instead, he showed up with it the next day! We felt welcome and well cared for during our stay. Definitely rent this cottage! Just try to avoid the dates that we want it :)

Perfect place to relax & enjoy the bay!

Shipwatch Cottage is a great place to get away from the fast pace of life, relax & enjoy! Not only was it the perfect place to relax, but the private beach, pond & close proximity of both to the house (literally a few short steps!) made it a great place for swimming, hanging on the beach & everyone being able to find something fun to do. There are two paddle boards & 1-2 adult kayaks & a few child ones. The house was very clean & very cozy. The kitchen is fully stocked with most everything you need. (crockpot, griddle, blender, toaster oven, coffee pot & keurig, microwave, grill outside, etc) Our family enjoyed spending the latter part of our evenings in the living room/dining area playing games & watching movies & the Olympics. For those who like to explore the area—Reedville is a very small town, so there isn’t a whole lot to do there & the few food, coffee, ice cream places are not open earlier in the week. Mainly open Thursday through Sunday. So, we ventured to nearby Kilmarnock/White Stone (30 min away) for a few dining stops & shopping. We chose to get groceries there as well because shopping is very limited near Reedville. We got coffee at Fawns in Reedville on Thursday & ice cream at Chitterchats. Both were great! Highly recommend! Definitely recommend Shipwatch Cottage. The owners were great & easy to communicate with and the property was clean & located in a great, private place with all that you need to relax & enjoy! Wonderful vacation! Thank you!

Amazing place to stay!

If you're looking for quiet and private, this is 100% your place. Our family had a wonderful time at Shipwatch Cottage! The house we clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was the perfect place to disconnect from work and spend some time in the water and relaxing on the porch with a book.

The best cozy getaway ever

We loved it from the fist glance and Susan, the owner greeted us with such kind words and smiles... i want to keep this place a secret all to my self so i can keep coming back and enjoy the peaceful quite beaches and cozy home. We loved it. From age 3 to teenagers and adults, all love it and it was hard to say goodbye. We cant wait to come back soon. Thank you very much John and Susan.

Fathers Day weekend

I dont think there is enough space for all the great things i would love to say about our stay! Aside from the most amazing 360° views, cleanliness of the home, the fine attention to details, the hospitality of the owners, the beach, the amenities it was juat the most relaxing welcoming home. This place was one of the top places we have ever stayed and we travel lots!!
