Richmond offers a wide variety of activities; you can simply park the car and enjoy everything on foot. A short stroll takes you to the bustling market square, cobbled streets brimming with independent shops, galleries and tea rooms. You’ll find a good selection of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. The famous Norman castle dominates the skyline, with circular walks around the banks of the River Swale passing by The Station, a bustling centre hosting art and craft exhibitions, a three-screen cinema, café, delicatessen, a microbrewery and an ice cream parlour. On the same site, there is an indoor swimming pool and health club.

Richmond sits at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, making this the perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts to explore the sights of Swaledale and the Yorkshire Dales. Head north over the border to County Durham to visit Teesdale, the North Pennines and Durham City. There is also the opportunity to watch the horse racing at Catterick, Thirsk, Ripon or York racecourses.
