Deep in the heart of Swaledale, the famous backdrop to Wuthering Heights starring Margot Robbie, South View is a Yorkshire stone built cottage full of charm and modern comforts, including an outdoor wood fired pizza oven. Retaining oodles of character, this hideaway is an excellent choice for a family of four, or group of friends, who love the great outdoors but like the convenience of being within easy reach of a small local town such as Reeth.
Entered through the porch, the ground floor of South View comprises of a dining room with a wood burning stove and dining table for six, a sitting room, and a galley kitchen. Featuring wooden floors and exposed beams the dual aspect sitting room offers comfortable seating around the second wood burning stove and stairs leading the first floor. To the rear of the cottage, the well-equipped kitchen provides everything needed should you wish to cook up a feast after a morning spent exploring one of the local produce markets.
Upstairs on the first floor, the two spacious bedrooms overlook beautiful Swaledale - a fantastic view to wake up to in all seasons. The master bedroom hosts a king size bed, with twin beds (that can also be converted into a super king-size bed on request) offered in bedroom two, making this an ideal cottage for young families or couples. A family bathroom provides a bath and shower overhead plus there is a an additional cloakroom on the landing.
The outside space to the rear of the cottage is quite simply the icing on the cake. A raised flagged patio area offers seating, a charcoal barbecue, firepit, sink, and even a wood fired pizza oven. All this with magnificent views of the fell as the backdrop. Time spent at South View in the pretty hamlet of Healaugh will always be remembered.
Half an hour walk along the River Swale will take you to Reeth, home to many cosy pubs, a bakery, coffee shops and the local weekly market - we recommend the local cheese stall! The cottage is right on the coast to coast route, so packing your walking boots and map is a must. Local bus routes run throughout the week to the historic town of Richmond, with mediaeval castle, twice a week market and boutique shops. This is the ideal hideaway and base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and more.
