Magnolia Cottage near West Seattle's Alki Beach

Stay in stylish luxury in one of West Seattle's best locations.

Our recently built garden cottage was designed with convenience and beauty in mind. Generously sized windows bathe the cottage in natural light, while allowing our guests to enjoy the property's gorgeous views. The home's location, perched in a desirable neighborhood high above West Seattle's coastline, provides quick access to everything going on at nearby Alki Beach.

When you step in through your private entrance, you'll find yourself in the cottage's kitchen/dining area. The full kitchen has every convenience - stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, and so on. Dine inside or carry your coffee out to the front balcony to enjoy the fresh morning air.

Heading towards the back of the cottage, you'll pass the stacked washer and dryer at the back of the kitchen. Just down the hall is the bathroom, with step-in shower, fresh fluffy towels, and quality toiletries all ready for your use. Opposite the bathroom is a fun nook where you can organize your belongings to feel more at home. Put on some music, or grab a puzzle or board game.

At the back of the cottage is the bedroom/TV room. Here there is a queen-sized bed with a luxurious memory-foam topper. We provide high quality linens and bedding to ensure you have a comfortable night's rest.

The cottage is a second-floor unit, built atop a seldom used office and garage (used for storage, not parking) in our backyard.

Guests will have exclusive use of the private garden cottage. The yard is shared and may be used by the homeowner or tenants in the main house.

We do not offer reserved parking, but it is always easy (and free) to park on the street right near our home.

Classy and comfortable getaway

We booked the Magnolia Cottage as a way to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city after days of sightseeing different neighborhoods. It did not disappoint. While we always needed to make a short drive to get back into Seattle at large, it was totally do-able, and to know we were heading back to a comfortable place for down time was invaluable. The communication and check-in process was very clear, and the property presented exactly as per the photos and reviews. It was an ideal place for my husband and I to stay, and would be appropriate for a single traveler as well. I've never experienced such cozy luxury for a VRBO- the linens, the appliances were lovely and atypical of a rental, in my experience. We were appreciative of the suggestions in the welcome manual, and spent some fun time on the West side, too! Thank you, Laura & Joe for a stay at your special cottage

Serene and superb!

Lovely, private, comfortable and very well equipped apartment in a quiet neighborhood yet walking distance to California St with fun shops and restaurants and Alki Beach. Short drive to downtown Seattle. Very convenient location. Definitely consider this for your next Seattle stay.

Just what we were looking for

Very quiet and comfortable location in West Seattle near our daughter's place. Nice full kitchen, comfortable bed, and nice bathroom. That's all we needed for our short stay. Will try yo book it whenever we visit and need a place.

Being within walking distance of family was key for us in renting this place. Other than the quirky heating system and the noisy washer and dryer it was a very clean and cozy place. We loved the coffee and candy and the bed was very comfortable.

Wonderfully relaxing

Walking in to this cute cottage you’re greeted with a bright and fresh scented coziness. The lighting, the decor, the accents were all well appointed. Loved the views and walkable neighborhood. Perfectly located between Alki and the Junction of West Seattle. Lots to do to keep one occupied, let alone the quiet relaxation the cottage offers. Will be back.

If you’re looking for comfort, this is NOT the place

My colleague and I arrived to find that there was only a micro-sized loveseat that folded into a bed. This is neither a one bedroom (The defining difference between a studio and 1-bedroom apartment is that a 1-bedroom features a separate bedroom area that is distinct and closed off from the living room and kitchen area) nor a cottage (a cottage typically refers to a home that is small in size but is the primary structure on a property). It is a narrow studio on the second floor that consists of a kitchen, a few stairs with a 3x2 shelf beside them (the so-called “reading nook”), a bathroom, and a room with just enough space for a loveseat that folds to a bed. If you are looking for comfort this is not the place for you. When we realized we didn’t have enough space to both sleep here unless someone slept on the kitchen floor, we contacted the owner, who didn’t initially respond, but later called back. I explained our dilemma, and was shrieked at, called too illiterate to read the listing, and berated for arriving ten minutes early. I was screamed at for about five minutes, unable to get a word in, and realized reasoning was out of the question. In my nearly 60 years, I have never experienced such vehement abuse from a stranger. It was unsettling to say the least, and any thoughts of trying to tough it out and make the stay work were out of the question, so my colleague is out over $1000; he was refused a refund. Great spot in W. Seattle!

This is a cute little spot that fit our needs perfectly. We actually used to live in this neighborhood, so it was nice to be back “home”. Bed was comfy, TV and internet worked great, spacious bathroom, beautiful appliances…everything was just great. It’s not a large space, so not good for more than 2 people or for entertaining, but it suited our needs perfectly. Had a lovely walk down to Alki and so close to the Junction. We had a couple of questions when we got there, host was very responsive and took care of our every need. Great place to stay!
