El Portal’s location is fantastic and its design and furnishings are charming, cozy and comfortable. Just walking into the courtyard upon arrival, we were greeted by a communal courtyard with a fire blazing in the pit, lights strung about and the adirondacks beckoning us to take a seat and roast marshmallows for a smore. Our room was just as charming and comfortable, spacious and relaxing. Just on these facts alone, this would have been likely a five star stay for us. But the stay was truly extraordinary due to the incredibly kind, gracious and welcoming staff and the policies and amenities offered by the hotel. For those travelling with pets, this is truly a pet welcoming elevated hotel. There are not the limits or fees you see many other hotels impose (we brought our three pups and no one asked how much they weighed :) ). The lobby offers complimentary snacks and drinks, as well as an honor bar should you want a glass of wine. These policies and amenities already had us feeling like welcomed and valued guests. And then there is the staff who are so incredibly kind and generous with their time, suggestions and hospitality. We are only sad that we weren’t staying longer, and can’t wait to go back to Sedona and El Portal.
