At the River Merchant Inn & Spa, your beautifully decorated and fully furnished 1000 sq. ft private retreat is on the bank of the picturesque Avon River. This full size, 2 bedroom apartment is a historical experience detailing, and using archive pictures and memorabilia, the original uses of this unique downtown building beginning in 1860 as the Mitchell, Caven & Co Mercantile store. Upon 2018 restoration, this building was the winner of the 2018 James D Anderson Heritage Restoration Award. After a day of walking just steps from your door to any of the 3 Stratford Festival Theatres, and many riverside and downtown activities, relax in the elegant and very unique Modern Industrial decorating by the fireplace, in the deep soaker bath tub, playing some vintage games on the game table, or unwind at the attached Illume Spa. Your Suite is located in the heart of Stratford’s beautiful, historic, tourist downtown with shops, outdoor cafes, restaurants, and activities. Other jewels in the crown of this one-of-a-kind Mitchell’s Mercantile Suite are the picturesque views of the river and downtown core as well as the abundant light from the soaring 8’ windows. In addition, the new state of the art kitchen is fully equipped with full-size large and small appliances, dinner service, cookware, essentials like spices, coffee and tea’s, and is ready for the fresh ingredients you can find at the weekend Farmer’s Market in the downtown square. A private entry code lock makes checking in and out a breeze. Free in-suite laundry is provided for your convenience. It is the perfect getaway for families, friends, couples, or business.

Cleaners will enter the suite's utility closet at the bottom of the entrance. This area is separated from the apartment by 2 flights of stairs as well as a lockable door. You will likely not even notice their quick presence.
