Charming 3-bedroom vintage beach cottage 5 minute walk to the Chesapeake Bay!

Stay comfortably in Virginia Beach at this 3-bedroom cottage. The Seaglass Cottage by the Bay is located in the charming & beautiful neighborhood of Ocean Park just a quick 5-10 minutes stroll to the Chesapeake Bay beach. Our vintage beach house from the 1940’s has been fully remodeled and decorated in local art and beach décor. There are beautiful live oaks on the property and 3 private parking spaces for you and some first-come-first-serve street parking in front of the house.

Easy load in with a ramp into the house and a mudroom for all your beach toys.
Guests have access to the entire home. We have automatic locks on the two front doors and will supply the codes the evening before or morning of check-in. No need for keys!

The first floor includes a mudroom, full living room with sectional sofa, kitchen (dishwasher, large fridge with additional fridge in the laundry room, and electric stove), separate sitting area with desk, dining room (table seats 8), two bathrooms (one with shower stall and one with shower/tub - both located on the 1st floor of the cottage), game room (foosball and board games, books and sofa), master bedroom, laundry room (you have access to the washer & dryer) deck with patio furniture and quaint backyard (partially fenced in).

The 2nd floor has two bedrooms, one bedroom with a queen bed, and one bedroom with two single beds both have closets, luggage racks, and dressers. The cottage will comfortably sleep a maximum of six guests. Note: both bathrooms are on the 1st floor.

The entrance to the cottage has a ramp into the front door for easy unpacking and unloading with one 2” step up into the living room. All other areas on the first floor are on the same level.

The blinds go up and down by gently pushing them up or pulling them down. We didn’t want to have cords for safety reasons!

This is a 1940s home and the house has its quirks! Although we stripped many rooms down to their studs during renovations, there aren't many square angles and level floors in the house. It adds character and that's why we (and you) will love it!

The attic was converted in the '70s to add the two upstairs bedrooms with 33” wide and limited headroom on the stairs and bedroom doors. Taller folks please be careful! We recommend leaving the AC units in bedrooms upstairs during the hotter months.

There is one large TV in the living room with HULU, Netflix, Disney+, and a ton of DVDs. We have very fast Wi-Fi (the password will be on the chalkboard in the kitchen) and you will have access to our full-sized washer and dryer. We have 1 security Ring camera doorbell in the front of the house. No cameras are inside. Please do not add or remove apps on the TV and don't forget to log out of your streaming services when you check out!

We provide necessities to get you started for your stay!
Items included are:
2 rolls of paper towels, 4 trash bags, 1 new tea towel (plus extras), 4 rolls of toilet paper, pump hand soap in both baths and kitchen, shampoo, shower gel, enough laundry detergent for a few loads, and 2 pods for the dishwasher, plus enough coffee and tea for a couple of pots along with sugar, the coffee maker has a built-in filter and creamers.
Both bathrooms have blow-dryers (if the blow dryer doesn’t turn on please check the reset button on the GFI plug ), we include 2 bath towels per person, 1 washcloth per person, 1 makeup removing cloth, and 2 hand towels in each bathroom. Please be mindful of products with hydrogen peroxide as they bleach the towels and we have to replace them!

We also have a first aid kit, alarm clock, white noise maker and iron and ironing board available in the laundry room and have luggage racks in each guest bedroom.

For beach-goers, we have at least 2 boogie boards, 6 beach chairs, 6 beach towels and lots of sand toys that we store in the mud room (the less sand in The Cottage the better! Please rinse sand toys before bringing them back inside:-). There is a sand brush on the front deck railing to dust the sand off everything!

We recently added beach towels to our rental and they will be in the mudroom. Please be sure they come back from the beach!
We are lucky enough to have the world’s best beach shade called a Shibumi Shade.
You have probably already seen them on beaches everywhere! It will provide lots of shade for up to 6 people (and SPF 50) and it is easy to set up in less than 5 minutes. When you’re done just pack it up in the carry case and leave it in the mudroom for our next guests.

I’ve included the set up information in the manual on the coffee table.

*If lost during your stay the shade will be be $300 replacement fee.

The kitchen is equipped with kitchen utensils, pots & pans, knife set, plates, kids plates and cups, glassware, coffee maker, crock pot, tea kettle, microwave, water dispenser inside the fridge, toaster, blender, service platters and bowls, storage containers, flatware, glassware, salt & pepper, oil, coffee (enough for a couple of pots) and tea bags, sugar, creamer, 4 trash can liners, and plates to service up to 6 guests. Kroger, Aldi Food Lion are located less than a mile away when you are ready to stock up!

There are 3 private parking spaces in the driveway and some additional first-come-first-serve street parking.

We have a private storage area/room (owner only) on the side of the house which is accessed by a separate outside door. Occasionally we may have to pop by to access the office. We will send a note first and will not need to access the cottage.

If you see the birdbath is empty please feel free to fill it up. Lots of birds use it in our backyard! Also, we love some water fun, but please don’t let kids use the hoses as the spigots are fragile and can break! (And the Bay is a much better water playground!)
