The room we were allocated was small (room 311), jaded and in need of refurbishment (chipped furniture, cracked tiles in the bathroom, very average shower). Basic compared to other hotel rooms we have stayed (and at cheaper costs). The food in the restaurant was very disappointing. The breakfast was very bland (I could not eat the chopped fruit it was so hard). To me it looks as if the cheapest produce was used which was not of good quality( e.g. brown bread for toast, sausages etc.) the dinner in the restaurant was cold when served. the bar food was nice and tasted good. The hotel location is very good as it is near the town.

Lovely location, super room but although dining room staff very pleasant I was very surprised at lack of knowledge relating to gluten or other items on dinner menu. Unacceptable at this level of hotel when in a small cafe in Achill the wait staff were totally aware and clear about the menu.

One night stay
Room view was looking out on to a rooftop. Deluxe room was ok. Bar staff very standoffish and not that much atmosphere

Birthday and Anniversary Treat
Stayed here for two days in August and was really happy with the hotel and location...
After requesting a nice room as it was a special occasion we were given a lovely room on penthouse level,the room was the most fantastic room I've ever stayed in,was really so happy with it...
Also used the pool which was really very nice and relaxing after the busy day out in Westport.
The breakfast wasent very good for it been a 4 star hotel,it reminded me of the quality you would get of a self service buffet .
I chose to have bar food on the 1st nite,service was the worst ever ,trying to get the staffs attention,ordering stuff that never arrived,staff saying they would be right back with something,and they were never seen again....
When dinner finally arrived after 65 mins it was the worst quality for a hotel bar ever,requested to speak with the Food & Bevarage manager which took about 10 mins for him to arrive,he was very apologetic ,needless to say we left the hotel bar hungry and very unhappy .....

Knockranny, a smile would help
Firstly, I must explain that I have spent a long time travelling globally and have seen a few hotels!
The hotel is very 'standard' , staff need to smile a little...reception very lacking in that regard as were other staff...is there are general morale problem? Breakfast chaos and like a doctors surgery. You are told to wait in the conservatory and then you are called in (OK, busy). Even then we waited over 10 minuted sat at the table for anything to happen and the irish breakfast which should be simple enough was missing bacon/sausage..I should point out that at this hotel I was not asked any egg style or actually what I wanted ,you MUST ask for exotic stuff like a mushroom or sausage . They are 'on request'! Crazy!Now, from where we sat you looked out on a pathway of dog ends and discarded cigarette packets, awful vision. Net curtains in our room were ripped and dowdy,so dowdy and old they ruined the room as soon as you walked in. No attention to anything, let alone detail.An OK hotel but better value elsewhere and probably happier staff.
