A traditional 200-year-old fisherman’s cottage set in one of Whitby’s most beautiful and historic old yards, right in the heart of the old town and just a 2-minute walk from the harbour.
Endeavour Cottage sits within a quiet cul-de-sac of just six cottages, facing original historic outhouses. This rare setting gives the property a real sense of peace and space, which can be hard to find in central Whitby. Even on busy days, the yard remains calm and tucked away, with no passing foot traffic — often, the loudest sound is the seagulls.
Despite the peaceful location, you are perfectly placed for exploring Whitby. Shops, restaurants, the harbour, beach, abbey steps and main attractions are all just a short stroll from the entrance to the yard.
The cottage is double-fronted, giving it a more spacious and open feel than many traditional Whitby cottages, while still retaining its original character and charm.
Endeavour Cottage sleeps up to six guests. The main bedroom features a very large and exceptionally comfortable bed with a high-quality mattress and topper. The second bedroom has twin beds, and additional sleeping is available in the lounge on a double sofa bed.
The living space is comfortable and practical, with fast wireless broadband and TVs in the lounge and bedrooms, making the cottage suitable for short breaks, family stays and longer visits.
A free parking permit is provided for West Cliff car park, which is a short walk away. Guests can also briefly stop nearby to unload on arrival. The property is pet-friendly.
Bed linen is provided. Towels are supplied for up to four guests.
This is a traditional period cottage, best suited to guests who appreciate character, history and a unique Whitby setting. It is not a modern hotel-style property, but that is part of its charm.
