We stayed at Mt. Olympus from Friday to Sunday over Mother's Day weekend, and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a resort. The room we were given was not at all what was advertised. Instead of staying in Hotel Rome (as I believed we were booking), we were placed in a rundown motel across the street from the amusement park—clearly a former Days Inn or similar property that Mt. Olympus owners, Nick & Eva Laskaris, purchased in foreclosure, slapped a new sign on, and made zero effort to update or maintain.
The building was filthy and unsafe. There was no staff onsite, no security, no housekeeping, and our second-floor hallway reeked of marijuana. The carpet was dirty and clearly original to the 1980s. The entrance door to our hotel itself was hanging off its hinges. No vending, no amenities, and even the ice machine gave dirty ice. The guests below us were partying and smoking pot all night long.
The room itself was disgusting—our toilet didn’t flush properly and had to be plunged regularly. Loud music blared at all hours, unsupervised children were running up and down the outdoor balconies, and it was an all-around chaotic and trashy environment. My child was genuinely scared. The water park was overcrowded, poorly maintained, and half of it was closed for maintenance. I was absolutely appalled.
And because I paid in full in advance, I was denied any refund. This resort is a bait-and-switch operation. Mt. Olympus is a dump, plain and simple.
